Initial Idea questions

Q1.What ideas do you have and why?

 The idea that I am thinking of  for my final major project is creating  I want to create a magazine but I don't know what type of magazine I want to create. I want to create a magazine because it something that I wanted to do from the beginning of the year as I can be more creative and design it how I want to design. The second idea that I have is a photobook but I do not know what style I want to create. 

Q2.How have you come to think of these ideas and why?

 I wanted to create a magazine from before but I do not know what I want the magazines to be about so I will research into different topics I can include in my magazine. The reason I want to do a magazine is because I always wanted to create my own magazine and it is something that I am passionate about. I always like photobooks because  I looked at the different styles.

Q3.What concerns or gaps in knowledge do you have?

Concerns that I have is that I wont create a good magazine and that I might fail or create a good enough magazine for this unit. I have also realized that I have gaps in my knowledge that I need to fill. I realized how to create a magazine is a gap in my knowledge. The concerns that I have is how to create a photobook but it is also a gap in my knowledge.]

For my Magazine I could create a different type of magazine that I previously did. I could create a :

Target audience

Cooking magazines cover many different age group for example BBC good food magazine they aim for people from the ages of 15 and over. Aiming at there target audience  is kind of hard because I don't think that those who is in a young age most probably wont read the magazine  as much as the older people would. I can not find a lot of research in the target audience of who likes cooking magazines so I know that the younger age groups do like cooking magazines.

To figure out what I want to name my magazine  I looked at different cooking magazines and what they are called. I looked at magazines like BBC good food, Delicious, Vegan foods, Summer food cookbook, bon apatite and taste of home. So looking at the titles I can see that they all relate to food. So when I think of the title of my work I will think of something that is original and different to all of the magazines that are already exists.

Today was the first day of starting unit 13. At first I was excited about it but after getting the brief and all the information that went along with this unit I started to feel very nervous about it. As a class we each created a mind map on everything we did in all the different units from this year and previous years. In the mind map  I wrote about the different skills we had to demonstrate and the role we did in that unit. We went on to the next task of setting up the pages on our websites. I move on to the next task which was researching our initial idea.  When Researching I then looked at the different idea. For my first idea I looked at the different types of magazines, target audience, what I can include, Print and digital media, magazine names, Photoshop and if there was a gap in the industry. For the photobook I was looking at  what I can do, what I can include and where I can print. Doing these different tasks will help people to navigate around my website and help me decide on my idea.

Print and Digital

Print has it positives and its negatives. Print is a good way to share my magazine because they can keep a copy and once the information is published you can not change  or delete any information that has been included.  The audience can spend time away from there devices and give there full attention to the magazine  and that they wont have any distractions from there devices. There are many negatives like it is not really accessible to those who have a disability because they might need a version that they can access like an audio version. Print media only allows a one way communication with the public. Digital is where audience can get fast updates and the information can reach the audience faster than print does. It allows people to have a two way conversation with the journalist and the public.  Digital has a negative of someone posting information that could be a possibility of being fake news. I decided that for my final product I will print it because my target audience can give there full attention to  my magazine.

Photoshop

I will be using photoshop to  create my magazine.  I will use different tools to edit photos and the magazine. I will watch different tutorials on YouTube  on how to use different effects, tools and how to edit properly on photoshop as I have not used it for a long time.

Photobook

Photobook ideas:

Photobooks can include many different things. I could include events like weddings, birthdays,  family holidays,  family photos, cook book and a story. These ideas are really good one  but the one that stands out to me is a story timeline because I would be able to tell a story with pictures and a short description.

Where can I print them

​

There are many different places I can print them but it might not be free so I might have pay to print them.   There is this website called myphotobooks where I can get the photo book  printed. It is not free or cheap But I have found a cheap  alternative called vista print. The prices change on the size of the book.  I think when it comes to printing I will need to make sure that I choose a high quality printing place.

Today we came in to lesson having to share what our project was going to be for this. I shared my idea and  I received feedback that was not negative but helped me to see that I was setting my self up for failure.  The feedback that I got made me think of another idea that was different and outside of my comfort zone. I decided that I wanted to create a cooking magazine because it is something different  to what I previously done. As a class we got introduced to the proposal for this unit. We went through each section of the proposal and student examples. Going through the different sections and the student examples made it easier for me to write the proposal.  I took the whole day to write my proposal making sure that I wrote it to the best of my ability I   then printed it and gave it to Tracey. I will get a feedback tomorrow from Tracey on what I can improve.. Doing these different tasks will help my idea to develop and know what I am going to do for this unit.

Today is work from home day. I had Math's  and English today. After I had those classes I continued to work on my media work. Yesterday I did the first draft of my proposal and I am waiting to get feedback on my proposal. While I am waiting I started to do my research list so that it is ready for next week as I will be start my research. Doing the research list will help me to know what research I am going to do. I did my research list because I am waiting to get my feedback on my proposal so that I can make any changes that I need to. I did this so that I am not wasting any time and that I am prepared for next week. Next week I will be start my research  as that is the initial time to start doing research but I am going to start on Monday and Tuesday so that I can use all the time that I have so that my research is the best of my abilities.

22/03/2021

Today I made sure that my research list was finished and that I included everything I am going top research. I made sure that my research that completed because I need to make sure that it is ready by Wednesday I got my proposal feed back from Tracey. I uploaded my the feedback from Tracey on my website that Tracey can see the difference between the first draft and my final draft of my proposal. I did this so they can see the improvements I made. I started to make the  changes to my proposal and I haven't made all the changes but when I finish it I will  uploaded it to my website when I am finish. I had some technical issues with my laptop  but  I was very lucky that I completed a lot of work before my laptop crashed. I have started to get the magazines and the cooking books together but I still need to get more magazines

What recipes can I include in my magazine? 

So looking at the different magazines I found out that they have recipes for those who are vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and more. The recipes they use caters to everyone because they say the audience can use alternative ingredients that suits them. The also show the products that they used in the dish. Along with the product they tell us the information about the product like the calories, the cost and what is in the product.  In the magazines that had contributors like Jamie Oliver and Jamie Robinsons.

Yesterday I got my proposal feed back from Tracey. I did not finish the feedback so today I made the changes that I received from my feedback and uploaded the final proposal to my website.  I created my questionnaire so that I can get as much responses I can get before the deadline.  The reason I  wanted to create a questionnaire is so that I can confirm my idea and that I have made the right decision. I posted my questionnaire on reddit and my social media pages. I am going to look at different forums because reddit is not a dependant as it use to be.  I have  looked at different cook books I will bring them in tomorrow so that I can scan in the recipes and add them to my website.  My laptop kept crashing  so I finished making the changes to my proposal and my Questionnaire on my iPad.  

Researching into the different recipes helped me learn what I would need to include in my magazine and that my magazine needs to have a range of recipes that caters to those that are vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian so that they don't feel like I left them out.  The reason that I researched into the different the recipe for my magazine because I wanted to have a range of  recipes that I would have thought of. Other than looking online for the recipes I looked at magazines and cook books so that I can see what type of recipes they include in there magazine and if they have any recipes that I could include in the magazine. I thought that with my recipes I can make adaptions to what I would use in the recipes. So going onto the next piece of research I am going to look at the different foods from different countries.

At the beginning of the lesson I had to make small changes to the research list I created. After doing those changes I then moved onto doing my research. The first thing that I started to research was the different recipes I can include in my magazine. I screenshot the ones form the internet and scanned the physical version of the different recipes and uploaded them to my website. I then moved on to looking at the popular food trends  as it is the next thing for me to research. I had  my firs progress review with Tracey about my research list , proposal and things I need to complete. I also people I needed to complete. After the progress I made the changes that I discussed with Tracey.  Tomorrow I will continue with my research from my research list.

What are the popular food trends of  2021? 

Plant base foods are becoming a trend. Many people have said that they have eaten more plant base food during the lockdown as they are home they are trying new foods  that are different to them. One of the main plant based foods that is starting to become a trend is plant based fish. As it is a vegan alternative and  since the pandemic went on everyone started to change what they eat. Home made pasta is starting to become popular because last year and at the beginning  of the year everyone was at home so there was more time for people try new things.  Comfort food is starting to become a popular trend because everyone is looking for comfort and normality. Meat alternative is a trend that everyone is getting at because of the pandemic. During lockdown we had to be creative and do things differently because we weren't allowed to go out so I know that turning your house into a dine in service is a popular trends that started. Virtual cooking class is becoming more popular but they might also send you a cooking kit to go along with your class. From looking at these trends I have learnt that there are many different things that I can include in my magazine and that the lockdown made people try new foods. so next I will look at foods from different countries

What recipes can I include that are from a different country?

I was not sure about what countries I wanted to research so I asked the question in my questionnaire to see what they would suggest. Looking at the responses I got so far the suggestions are really good so I am going to look at those places that they suggested.

 So I started looking at a list of national dishes from a round the world. The first one that I found was from 

  • Costa Rica and it is called Gallo pinto.  Gallo pinot it is kidney beans and rice cooked together till the liquid has dried out.  You can add to it and make it your own.

  • India- Biryani is a rice dish that you can make it your own add what you want to it like meat, vegetables and spices. This dish caters to everyone that has different food dietary needs.

  •  Japanese - Katsu Curry is aa recipe where you can adapt the recipe and make it your own. You could add meat and vegetables or just vegetables

  • Mexico - Taco is a popular recipe in Mexico so I thought that I could do tacos because you can get beef mince or alternatives mince to put in the taco and you can add what you like it.

  • Netherlands - I thought I could include Bami Goreng as it is a popular dish over there. This dish is basically stir fried noodles with whatever meat and vegetables you want to add it.

  • Rome- Pizza is a all time favorite that everyone love. I thought that I could include this but add different toppings on the pizza.

  • Switzerland-  La Fondue this include cheese melted and bread. You would dip the bread in the cheese.

  • Spain - Tapas is a Spanish snack. With this you can mix and match food so you can include anything you want but it is a small plate.​​

  • Jamaica - Jerk chicken is popular in Jamaica because of the flavors it consists of. You can serve this with many different things like rice.

Today we continued to work on our research that we started yesterday.  I started to research the topic foods from different countries. With this topic I looked at a range of  different recipes that come from different countries.  With the different recipes I took screenshots and uploaded the screenshots to my websites. I want to include a interview with a chef so I  contacted a chef  that works in the catering department at college. I am waiting to hear back from the chef. While I am waiting to hear back from the chef I am going to prepare the questions that I am going ask in the interviews. So when I hear back from the chef   I will need to set the date and time for the interview with the chef.  I made sure that I prepared the questions, setting the date and the time so that when it comes to doing the interview I am  organized. Going forward  I am going to continue to work on my research.

I have learnt different foods that I can include on my magazine. I have also learnt that there are many different recipes other than the ones I already know. I also know that I can include these recipes in my magazine as it is different.

How to design a cooking magazine?

I want to research this because I have never done a cooking magazine. So the first thing that I found out was that I should not be shy designing the front cover of my magazine what I mean by this is that the layout and the colour of the magazine should be balanced. They suggest to stick to the ABC rule . A is heading which the magazine title, B - sub heading is the one article you want to stand out and C is sub headings  which is  the other articles that are included in the magazines.  They also suggest that you should pair text with a simple but strong photo so that it is pleasant to look at and catches peoples attention.  Adding a pop of colour should be used sparingly because it can be very effective in the magazine. I should spend time on my content to make sure that it is at a good point. There should be consistency throughout the whole magazine. I should not over fill the pages of the magazine. Choosing fonts for your magazine is important  because it can catch peoples attention but also makes them want to read further.  Looking at the current cooking magazine I see that they are consistent with your text and colour. I have also seen that they have kept a similar layout and deign.  I have noticed that when the seasons change they change how the magazine would look normally for example if it was summer they would include colours that are bright and bold that represents summer. I have learnt  how to design a cooking magazine and what I need to pay attention to when I am making my magazine. I need to be consistent through out my magazine in the font, layout and colour. This will help me to create a better magazine than I previously did. The next thing that I am going to research is how to write articles.

Today is work from home day. I going to  continue  with my research. I finished the topic of the recipes from the different countries but I felt like I could add more recipes to the topic  than I added yesterday. I did this because I wanted to add a range of different recipes that I did not add already . After I felt comfortable with the the different recipes from the different countries  I then  moved onto the next topic of how to design a magazine. I  wanted to research this topic because I previously created a magazine and looking back at the magazine I thought that I could improve on different aspects but the main aspect I thought that I could improve on is designing a magazine. I looked at physical cooking magazine to see how they are designed. Doing my research I have gained more knowledge on what I can do better with this magazine that will I  make it better than the magazine that I did in unit 12. I will continue to work on my research

How to write articles?

I am researching how to write articles because I feel like I can write better articles then I previously did. The first thing they suggest to writing better articles is not giving your opinion unless your an expert on the topic.  I should take my time writing the articles because it can take a long time writing the articles as you might not know what to write. When writing my articles I should leave the articles that are going to come easy to me  and start with the hard ones. While I am writing I should remember who my audience is and what type of writing they would like to read. When I  start to struggle on how to start my articles they say  that I should write like I am talking to my friend so that it seems more natural. I should use different sentences length so that there are different tones and moods in my articles because it makes your articles more  interesting to read. I could ask  questions so that the reader is engaged  and it makes them think more about the topic. Telling the story in the article makes the audience more interested.  The articles should be simple as some people don't have long attention span.  I  should be consistent with the format that I am writing.  I have learnt many things that I can use to improve my writing so that my articles in this magazine is better than the previous articles I wrote.

Today I continued to research into how to design a cooking magazine. When researching this I looked into at the format of magazine and what else I can do to design my magazine. I think that the format for the magazine will definitely help me to design the best magazine possible.  I looked at websites and physical magazines so that I can see how they design there magazines. Learning this will help me so that I can make a really good magazine for this unit. I think that knowing the how to design my magazine will help me improve on how to design my magazine. After researching into how to design a cooking magazine I then went on to research how to write articles  because the previous articles I written could have been better so I thought that doing this research will help me improve on writing my articles. The next thing I am going to research is  food tips and tricks.

Food photography tips and tricks

​

When people are advertising food and drinks  they use fake food and drinks so that it can seem appetizing to the audience. The first thing that I found out is that when you see the drink splash it is made out of plastics because the real splashes makes a mess and it looks unappealing to the eye where as the plastic does not make as much. Eyeliner is used for grill foods because they make the perfect grill lines. They use raw meat as it is fuller than cooked meat because cooked meat shrinks. When it comes to get using milk they use glue because of the texture of the glue. Instead of using real ice cream they used mashed potatoes as they add volume to the images and the ice cream would melt. Shaving cream is a substitute for whip cream as the whip cream would melt. To give your fruit and vegetarian a shine they spray deodorant this makes them look more appealing. They add wax to sauces so that the sauce thicken. They suggest to use a blow torch especially if you want your food to appear crispy. Many use steamers to create the steam on the food and the steam is consistent throughout. When staging your area you could try different things like adding a kitchen towel and wrinkling it so it adds texture to the image.  I should consider using props for my images as they add to them  but I wont add a lot of props to the images so that they are not overcrowded. When it comes to lighting I should not place the different dishes directly in the  sun light as the light can be harsh so it would be better to take the pictures in indirect sunlight as it is not as harsh. I need to keep an eye on the shadows as it can make the images unappealing.  They suggest that  to use the golden hour  as the light would change and it would affect on how the image would look. I have learnt the different tricks and tips with food photography  and what I can include in my ow images. I also learnt what I can do with the lighting in food photography and what I can do to make my images better.

Photoshop

I will use photoshop to edit the images that I will take and edit each page separately using the different tools and techniques that I will learn from this research. It would be good to smooth out things that don't look good in the image. To do this  I will need to use the spot healing brush to get rid of  things that are noticeable. I then would need to duplicate two more layers and one layer  is going to be blurred. Another layer would be textured and would need to be visible. To make it look smoother you should click on the  blur layer and choose the lasso tool and change the feather  to make it look more smoother. You then would need to repeat the steps so that it is smooth all over. They suggest that I should set the width of the page 22cm, height 29cm, resolution 300 and the colour mode RGB . After editing the photo you would need to  paste the image on the background and set the guidelines up on the magazine. Then you can start to place the text in the font you will be using. You would need to create a barcode and then embed it into you magazine. I looked on YouTube at  different tutorials. The first tutorial that I found was about how to design a magazine front cover and the tools that I will need to us to create a front cover.  I have found another tutorial that teaches me how to edit food photography and what tools I would need to use to makes the images better.  I found another tutorial that shows me how to do a colour effect  on the images. I got another tutorial where it tells me how to swap the background of the images which would be an ides that I would consider for when I edit my magazine. I have learnt about what techniques I can use in my magazine

Today  I researched into food photography tips and trick. I learnt the different things that they use to make the food appealing in the photos and what I can do to get something similar. I also looked into the lighting aspect of food photography. I researched  this because I have not done food photography before so  I researched this  to gain more knowledge and how I can do this. I will have a practical with Michael on food photography.  I then started to research into photoshop so I looked at the different techniques that I can use to edit the images that take. I researched this because I wanted to know what techniques I can use to edit my magazines and the images. As I have not finished researching this I will then continue to finish researching this tomorrow.

InDesign

So I have not used InDesign  before so In the future I will have a practical that will be organised and I will have a date soon. As I am waiting I thought that this would be a good idea to do some research.

Today I continued research into photoshop as it is one of the software I will be using to edit my magazines and images. With this research I watched many different tutorials that shows the different techniques I then I chose the ones that are relevant to my idea and that will help me improve my designing skills but when I start  designing my magazine and editing I will continue to look at different tutorials that have different techniques that will improve my magazine and the images. After I completed that I then started to research briefly into InDesign to see what I can with InDesign and to get a bit of information about it. I watched different tutorials that gave me information on InDesign.  The reason why I said that I researched it briefly because I will have a practical on how to use InDesign. It will be my first time using InDesign so I made sure that I will be having a practical. The next thing that I am going to research is my target audience.

This tutorial  is a course that is for beginners so as I am a  beginner I thought it would be a  good idea to watch the video. In the video the guy talks about the  topics that would help me know the different aspects like the fonts, images, designs,  exporting and understanding the pages. I think that this tutorial will help me to learn more about how to use InDesign.

This tutorial is for both photoshop and InDesign because that is where I will be creating my magazine. In this tutorial  it tells me 5 different layout techniques that I can use for my magazine.  In the tutorial they tells me how to wrap text, standing capital, overlap,  insert image and clipped image. The  topics will help me make my magazine better.

From researching InDesign I learnt different things like 5 different techniques, basic tools and a tutorial for beginners. When I start designing my magazine I will use these video and more tutorial to help me create my magazine.

I watched this video on the basic tools that are included on InDesign and the use of the tools. The tools that I saw in the video are similar to the tools that are in photoshop. I think this is a good thing so that when I use InDesign  I have an idea on what the tools are and the use but when it comes to the tools that I have not used before they will take some use to get use to. 

Target audience

My primary target audience  is from the  ages of 18- 25. I chose this age range because I feel like I can get there attention as they are close to my age range and I can be informal in my magazine. Also they would be eager to try new recipes. My magazine is mainly for females as they enjoy cooking. They would be student  who is either studying at university or at college. So they would be living at home or living at there university accommodation. They  would be living in a city or a town. BO8 would be classed in my primary target audience because they would be depending on there parents to support them financially. As they are students I would say O66 because they could could be living close to there university. 065  is learners and earners I say this because my target audience could be  they could have a job  and be studying at the same time. My primary target audience could be in any type of relationship for example the could be dating, single or broken up.  The demographics that my I would put my primary target audience in is  D and E because they are students that would have a job.  The psychometrics that that I would put my primary target audience  in is explorer because they are looking for mew things like recipes and more.  My secondary target audience  is from the  ages of  26-33 . I chose this age range for my secondary target audience because they are willing to try new recipes. For my secondary target I chose both females and male because they both enjoy cooking.  They  would be working and  they could be continuing with there education. So they would be living by them self's, family, there partner or a friend. They  would be living in a city or a town. As part of my secondary target audience they would be O61 as they would be building there career. 062  as they  would be renting out flats. H35 flying solo I would say my target audience is part of  it because of they would be young singles who would rent homes. My secondary target audience could be in any type of relationship for example the could be dating, single or broken up.  The demographics that my I would put my primary target audience in is  C1, C2, D and E because they are students that would have a job.  The psychometrics that that I would put my secondary target audience  in is explorer because they are looking for new things like recipes and more. 

Interview

So for my interview I emailed out to a chef at college that works in the catering department. I emailed hi asking if it is alright to do the interview with him. He confirmed that it is alright but didn't set a date so I emailed him again asking if the date I said was alright. I have not got a response on that yet. So I have the questions ready for when I get a response. The questions I  did was basically asking him why he became a chef. his favourite dishes and more. I asked those type of questions so that I can get an insight into what he does and why.  I am going to include this interview in my articles.  I recorded the interview but it recorded in two parts.

In the interview I asked Darren a number of different questions that related to him being a chef.  Darren answered the questions with detail that gave me insight into his story. In the interview I asked questions like what dishes does he like to cook and what advice would he give to those who are thinking about becoming a chef. I am hoping to use this interview in my magazine because I thought it would be a good way to break up the recipes.

Today I was feeling stressed because it coming up to the deadline and I feel like I wont meet the deadline completed my target audience research. I looked up mosaic so that I can classify my target audience properly. I then look looked at the demographics of my target audience. I know who I want the aim my magazine at and why I want to aim my magazine at them. I did this because I would need to know where my target audience  stands so that I can explain it to other people. I then went on to upload evidence of the interview. I analysed my interview on how I contacted the chef  and I talked about what i I prepare the questions ready for the interview I did this so that I have an interview in my magazine. I prepared the questions so that  am organised.  Tomorrow I will analyse my poll and my questionnaire so that I can get more responses over the way.

I originally thought about the name Grillzilla but then when I thought about the name it makes me think about grill food. When it came to writing the proposal I made sure that I wrote that I am thinking about changing the name. So as I did not know what to name my magazine I asked the question in a poll and in my questionnaire. In the poll I gave four different names to choose from. In the questionnaire I asked if they liked the name Grillzilla and if they said no what would they suggest. For the poll I got 33 responses in total.

In my poll asked what name I should choose from my magazine. I have gave them different names they can choose for my magazine the most chosen name is  Esther Eats. The second name that was chosen tasty delights.  Esther Delectable's and Dine with Esther was the least  name that was chosen so I think that I will go with Esther Eats because it was the popular name.

My questionnaire  got  35 responses in total. The questionnaire  confirmed my ideas and helped me decide what I am going to do for my magazine. This also helped me to know if I can add anything  more to my idea. When it comes to deciding what colours I want for my magazine this helped me decide what colours I should use for my magazine

In the screenshot you can see that that those who is aged between 18-22 and 33+ answered the questionnaire the most whereas those between the ages of 23-27 and 28-32 did not answer the questionnaire as much.  

From this image I realised that females answered my questionnaire more than males did this could be because females enjoy cooking more than males.  So I know for my primary target audience I need to make sure that my magazine is mainly aimed at females.

In the screenshot I asked about my idea and if my idea was a good  idea. People mainly said yes but other answered no and maybe. This confirms that my idea is good.

From the previous question I asked if there was anything else I can add to my idea. They gave me many different responses that I have taken to consideration. I am thinking about adding some of the ideas to my final idea. I would do this because they could make my idea better and make the content of the magazine better.

I asked what there favourite foods were because I was thinking that I could include some of these foods in my  magazine and to the recipes. I did this because I was thinking that some of theses foods could be added to the recipes. This would help me have more recipes and have a range of different recipes.

I asked if including recipes that are from different countries and would read it. Many said yes they would read my magazine. This confirms this idea and  that I should include it in my magazine as the audience would enjoy my magazine.

This relates to the previous. I asked this so that I could get some more ideas.  I did the research on the recipe from different countries but I feel like I could add more recipes to it so that there are options. I feel like I have some of these suggestions but I can also use some of the suggestions as back up.

I conducted primary and secondary research. In my primary research I conducted a questionnaire, poll and a interview. The questionnaire is completed . I did the questionnaire so that I can confirm different parts of my idea that I was not sure about. The questionnaire did confirm the idea that I should put it in my magazine.  For the interview I contacted a chef  for my interview  so I did contact the chef but I  heard back from the chef saying that he is willing to do the interview but I have not got confirmation back on the date . So I am still waiting to hear back from the chef. I am looking for another chef to interview but many was not available. I also conducted a poll  to find out the name for my magazine. I decided to go with the name Esther Eats for my magazine For my secondary research I looked into different topics for example recipes, how to write  articles, recipes from different recipes from different countries, how to design a cooking magazine , InDesign, photoshop food photography tips and tricks,  popular food trends and  target audience. Doing this research has helped me know what I can include my research and to gain more knowledge. The research will help me to improve my work more.

I asked this question because I was very unsure on what colours I want to use for my magazine.  I have not designed a cooking magazine  before so I was not sure what colours to use. Bold and neutral was the highest selected option. I think that I am going to use bold and neutral in my magazine.

I asked if they like the name Grillzilla for my magazine and the majority said No but some people said that they do like the name so in the next question I asked for suggestions. This will help me decide if I should keep the name or not.

This questions relates to the previous questions. In this questions I asked them for name suggestions for my magazine. This question helps me to think about different names that is better than Grillzilla.

Today is the deadline for my  research to be completed. I completed my secondary research so I only need to complete my primary .  The first thing that I completed was analysing  the poll that I conducted to decide the name for my magazine.  In the analysis I made sure that it was detailed and that it spoke about what name is popular and why it is popular. The name  that was most popular  was Esther Eats so I think that this name is the right name for my magazine. I chose this name because it is personal, catchy and short. I  then moved on to analysing my  questionnaire to see what responses I got and how they will affect my work. I did because I want to how the responses will effect my idea. I then moved onto to doing the conclusion  for the end of my research.  In the research I spoke about my primary and secondary research and how it has helped with my idea.I feel like I could have done more on my research.

Today we had to pitch our FMP ideas.  I was nervous to do my pitch because I am not that confident and I do not like public speaking. I think that knowing my idea helped me.  Having the cue cards helped me as well because I forgot what I was going to say. I was not first that was a good thing for me as I would be able to see what everyone else included in there pitches and it put me to ease so it helped me to calm down. To me I feel like my pitch went well. I think that even though I was nervous  I think that it did not come across. I could still improve on certain things. I still want to work on being more confident. With the cue cards I feel like I was depending on cue cards a lot  through out the pitch as I was looking down at the cue cards.  At the end of the pitch  I was asked questions I feel like I answered them confidently. I think that this pitch was the best pitch I have done.

I think that this best pitch I have done because I was not a nervous to pitch my idea. I knew my idea really well and I practiced it so that I knew what I was talking about. In my pitch I did not speak really fast as tis is what I do when I am nervous. I was closer to the end of the list  to pitch so that made me ease more. When creating the pitch slides I made sure that I added detail to my pitch so that I have all the information. I created cue cards so that I have the information in front of me I felt that I was depending on the cue cards during the pitch. I made sure that I made eye contact with a few people in the panel. I asked questions at the end and got feedback. In the pitch I talked about everything that my ideas entails. I talked about my target audience, how I got to this idea,  research, my screening ideas, feedback, how I feel, and the different processes I would be doing to get to the end result. One of the questions that I got asked was  about the recipes and if they are cost effective for university students. They also asked questions that relates to my target audience. Tracey suggested for my screening I should include food samples of the different recipes that I will include in my magazine.  Overall I feel that the pitch went well but I fell that I can improve on not depending on the cue cards as much as I did. When speaking  during the pitch I did not rush  what I was saying but I need to speak up more.

For the location I was thinking of doing it at home but then I was taking to one of my uncles who has a professional kitchen said that I might be able to use the kitchen.  So I then thought that would be a good place to take the images and cook the recipes. When I spoke to my uncle last week he said that he was waiting to hear because it would make the images look more presentable and appealing to the audience.  So for my back up plan was to take the images and cook the recipes at home. I just heard from my Uncle  about the kitchen and he sad that I would not be able to use the kitchen due to a technical problem in the kitchen. So I would need to use my back up plan. My kitchen is not a massive kitchen so I have limited space to use so I need to be organised and only have what I need out.
