Print journalism plays an important role. Print journalism has many similarities that digital journalism has like they are portable and available whenever you want it. The only difference that digital journalism is that you would need service and power. With digital journalism you can share the news faster and easier than you can with print journalism. Print journalism can last long but it cant be deleted. Many people trust print journalism more than digital journalism because it allows consumers push sales.

Gender representation
Gender representation in journalism has been an issue that has been going on for ages. Gender representation has been changing but it doesn't go well . Females go into journalism but only a few females go to a senior position. There is a pay gap between the male and female journalist. Women are not a likely not to be seen as much as men would be. Males get more exposure than females get. Females don't get chose to cover the same stories as males does.
In the image it shows me that men has a higher percentage than men in the different sectors like evening broadcast, print, internet and wires.

Social media allows journalist to publish news so that the audience can gain access quickly. This means that social media brought an increase. Many people don't wait on the news anchor to tell them they are able to go and find out themselves. Social media has changed journalism inn both good and bad ways. Social media allows a direct connection from the publisher to the audience that they are aiming for. It allows them to reach for a different target audience. Many companies tries to encourage their reporters to use social media so that the can create a brand for themselves. Social media can be helpful but there can be some negatives that go along with it. A negative that comes along with social media is fake news which can be found on any social media platform

In the article I found out that Joe Biden was sworn into the white house and that Donald Trump leaves the white house as he is not president any more. I also found out that Donald Trump did not attend the ceremony. The information would not be useful but it can also be useful to see if any social issue applies to this article and to see if things have started to change in journalism

Today we started the new unit 12. We went through the PowerPoint where we got introduced to the unit and we also done activities like debate through the chat on teams and vocally. . Going through the PowerPoint I was confused and shocked. As I was confused was We then done a research task that I found difficult so I didn't finish the task in time. We got told that this unit must link to our FMP. I did these different tasks so that I can figure out what my debate topic is going to be and what interests me.

The issue that I selected is how has social media impacted journalism.
I decided on this idea after I looked at different things that has affected journalism and one of them was social media. Social media was one topic that came up the most and that took my interest. On this topic I don't know a lot but I do know that social media has had a positive influence on journalism.

My initial idea for this unit is how has social media impacted journalism. To do this I want to create a project that is digital so that I can incorporates social media into my project. In my project I want to show how social media has impacted journalism.
How has Social media changed Journalism
I chose these links because they help me to find out more information about the for and against about the impact social media has on journalism. In the both articles they talk about the for and the against my topic. In the first one they don't have much about for but they say a bit more about against but then in the second one they talk about for and against. In the last one they talk about for and against about social media and they go into different things like fake news. Social media has changed journalism because it allows interaction between the journalist and the audience. Social media it is faster than print media because print media allows the news to spread around the world. Social media allows the audience to have freedom of speech whereas print media is only one way conversation. The conversation that the journalist have with the audience journalists are required to listen to the audience as well because they have there own voices to say there opinion. Twitter is a professional social media platform that is used by a lot of journalist as it allows journalist to find information and contact different people. Social media allows breaking news stories that has happened can be shared faster than print media. There are many negatives to having social media in journalism like fake news because fake news can make people not trust the news organisation. Journalist may use face book live but that can have both positive and negative roles it depends because journalist can show something that may be sensitive to some people. News companies are leaving there production companies. Social media brings in a younger target audience. Social media makes it more personal as it allows them to build a profile that is public. The research that I did will help me know how social media has changed journalism and why.
How does social media affect journalism
Social media has an effect on journalism because it affects the way the audience receives the information and how they share the stories. Social media changes the way of how journalist do there jobs of how they share the different stories. Fake news has affected journalism because fake news can confuse the reader of what news is real or fake. The press can have a lot of trouble maintaining there reputation with there audience this may lead to them having a negative relationship with there audience. Social media allows journalists to increase access to there content so this means that the audience doesn't need to wait for the news anchor to deliver the news they can just go to any of the social media platform like Instagram, twitter or Facebook. Social media forces the writers to write about a specific topic in there articles. Social media has positive effects on society to connect from all over the world and for them to share there opinions. Social media allows people to showcase there skills to get different opportunities. There is also negatives effects of social media on society as it can cause social media to become a temptation to them and turns into an addiction. Social media can affect people negatively because of the content that is on social media which can cause negative behaviour. This information that I researched helped me to gain more information about the effect that social media has on journalism.

While researching the advantages of social media in journalism. I found out that positive feed back, the audience is world wide, sharing news and being a great source for information. These are really good advantages why social media is good for journalism.
While researching the disadvantages I found out that fake news, negative feedback and time consuming has been the most disadvantages that has been coming up.
When it comes to fake new many people handle fake news differently. Many people will research to see if the new is real or fake. How to tell the difference between fake news and real news is that they would need to check the facts like the date, the author, the source and more but if these don't check it could be fake news. Some websites could be unsecure and there facts could be at a minimum. Fake news can cause people to be confused. It can destroy a person or a relationship. For a business or person fake news can ruin there reputation. Fake news can be spread on social media and can be taken out of context. Knowing this information it will help me to know more about fake news and what the affects are.

Today we had a one to one with Tracey. We went through my research list. I need to improve my research list more because it was not detailed enough. After I finished doing my research list I started to research into my debate topic. I went on to research on how social media changed journalism, how social media affect journalism and more. I also went on to look at the advantage and disadvantage of social media in journalism. After looking into the advantages and disadvantages I looked at fake news. I researched into these different topics for my debate because it will help me to understand more about my topic and what goes on.
The ethic of social media and journalism.
I found out that there are many different ethics in social media. I found was Authenticity is one of the ethics because people will respond positively if they are being sincere. Communication is another ethic of social media because communication allows people to have free speech so they can share there opinion about the topic which gives the opportunity to have a debate in the comment section of the post. Social media allows journalist to have independence. Social media allows journalist to build relationship with different people across the world and allows you to also network with them. Journalist has to Social media can have some negative ethics issues like violation of privacy this can most likely lead to data being leaked out on social media. Journalism has ethics as well like independence, copyright and privacy some of journalism ethics can be negative like privacy of the person. Having social media and journalism means that they both positive and negative ethics that cross over or new ethics like privacy, independence and more. Journalism has a code of ethics where journalist have to seek the truth in the article and make sure that the article has the correct information. They also need to make sure that no one gets harm. Journalist have to be accountable for . They have to identify the source where they got the information. The journalist should not plagiarize with the information the need Having this research will help me to understand the different ethics of social media and journalism.

Today we didn't have to register on teams so I continued work on my research and added more detail to the topics that I researched. I added more details to the topics I researched into so that I can get a good grad but also gain more information. After looking into those topics I went on to researching more topics and added more detail to the topics. I created my questionnaire so that I can gain peoples opinion on the topic. I distributed my questionnaire on reddit, snapchat, Facebook, twitter and I sent it some people that I know. Distributing my questionnaire on these different platforms mean that I can get a lot of responses.
Do journalist need social media?
Journalist do need social media because it allows journalists to connect with that audience and share information with their audience. Journalist use social media to reach out to people, to gain information or check the facts for the information they have already. Journalist use social media to get in touch with different people they don't know. Journalist mainly use different social media platform because it allows the journalist to give breaking news faster than any other way. Social media is cheap way to share the information they have gathered. Social media is a good way to link large amount of information together and to share the information with other people. Journalist use social media to build a relationship with a wider audience other than there original audience meaning that they will able to reach another demographic that they haven't reached before because they are using social media which younger audience use. Journalists use many different social media pages like Instagram, Facebook and twitter because they can follow the different people and different companies meaning they will be able to gather information and contact the people they would need to contact find out the information they would need for there article. In this day and age social media is a required tool for journalists to use for there career. Journalist have to be professional when using any social media platform. This information will help me know if journalists need social media to advance there career.

So I conducted an interview with a lady named Erin. I contacted her she replied and said that she was busy. So instead of doing it over video I conducted the interview over emails. I sent the questions over to her so she can answer the questions and get them back to me.
Looking at the completed interview questions I know that she gave me her opinion on the questions and that she answered it to the best of her ability. Knowing that I can access the answers to the interview questions is good because she gave really good information about my topic. This information will help me with my topic and will allow me to gain more knowledge.
Does journalist have access to the audience through social media?
Social media allows journalists to communicate with the audience because the audience can comment on the post in the comment section so the audience can express there opinion on an issue that is bothering the audience. Social media allows the journalist to have a direct relationship with there audience so that the journalist can build a relationship with there audience. Social media allows the audience to have the information quicker than traditional journalism. Social media allows the audience to express there opinions on the post. researching they say twitter is a good social media because that's were they get updates on what is going on. Social media allows journalist to reach a whole new audience that is in a different demographic. Social media allows journalist to build trust with there audience. When journalist engage with the audience it creates the opportunity to raise their visibility on social media. Social media grabs the audience attention because the audience spend most of there time going through social media so the post will catch there attention. The information that I find out will help me to know more about how the journalist connect with there audience through social media.

Social media has influenced journalism because it changes the way they receive the information that they are being told. Social media allows journalist and there audience to do many different things. Social media plays a important role in journalism because it makes journalism more accessible to the audience as they can use any of there devices like there phones, tablets, desktop or laptop. Journalism had to adapt to social media. Journalist no longer has to write a long story the journalist can go onto a social media platform and post what they want. In the post they can highlight the key facts they want to highlight. Social media is a key a tool to journalism because social media relays information to there audience. Social media allows the journalist to post content when they want to. Journalist have many to be professional when posting on social media. There are a set of guidelines that journalist have to follow when posting on any social media platform whether it is twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Many people can contribute to the post so this can allow them to have a debate about the topic that has been posted. Today I continued to work to work on my research. I researched into the why social media plays an important role in journalism. The information will give me more knowledge about my topic and will help my debate by knowing more about my topic. I also analysed my interview today doing this will help me understand the answers I got. With the interview I asked someone named Erin who was busy so we did the interview over email. Today I also continued to work on my research I went on to work on adding more information to my secondary research. Through out the day I was checking on my questionnaire and seeing how many responses I got. The total responses I got for my questionnaire 35 so tomorrow I will analyse my questionnaire. I will update my bibliography today so that tomorrow I wont have a lot to do and that I wont miss the deadline. I did all theses tasks to make sure that my work is all up to date and not missing anything. Doing all theses tasks will help me to meet the deadline tomorrow at 3.
Males answered my questionnaire more than females. So this tells me that males were more interested in my questionnaire.
Majority of those that answered my questionnaire said said yes to using social media where as others had said no and maybe to using social media.

Conclusion
In conclusion to my research I have completed secondary and primary research for this unit. For my primary research I conducted a questionnaire and an interview for this unit. My questionnaire was about how people like to receive there news. I got 35 Reponses for my questionnaire as I distributed it on reddit, my social media and shared the link with my friends for them to share it with there friends. I also did an interview with a lady named Erin who is a student at university and a freelancer. The interview was about how has social media impacted journalism. Doing the questionnaire and the interview helped me gain more knowledge about the different topics. In my secondary research I researched into many different topics like the ethics of social media and journalism, how social media has changed journalism, the role of social media in journalism, the advantages and disadvantages of social media, audience in journalism and the influence. Looking deeper into these topics I have learnt the positives and negatives of social media in journalism and how it affects society. These topics have helped me gain more knowledge that I did at the beginning Researching. into these topics will help my idea for this unit. Doing the primary and secondary research has helped me a lot in this unit and my idea because it gave me a lot of information to learn and think about.

Today is a work from home day where It is the last day to complete our research. I have analysed my questionnaire. Analysing the questionnaire I talked about the popular result and why it is popular. I analysed my questionnaire so that I know what people like and the most popular answer. I then moved on to do my conclusion about my research. In my conclusion I summarised what I did in my research and why I did this for my research. I then went onto making sure that everything was uploaded to my website.

Today we got set to do a presentation on our research findings. When we found out about the presentation I was really nervous. Doing the presentation as a task was alright and it will tell people what I found out about my research. We got told what to include in our presentation. I worked on my presentation all day as I am presenting tomorrow. I am nervous to present my work to Tracey tomorrow. Doing this task will help me gain more confidence but it will help my coursework. It will also help to show what I found out about my debate topic.
