Today as a class we got introduced to unit 8 FMP. When we got introduced I had a lot of thoughts going through my mind. For example what am i going to do and what will keep my interest. I felt nervous and scared because I realised that we are going to pitch our I ideas and I don't have a lot of confidence to pitch.

In my mind maps I put down all the things that I did this year. I underlined interactive magazine because this was the unit that I most enjoyed. I didn't really enjoyed the other units as much. Then I created another mind map of potential ideas that I was thinking of doing for my FMP
Task 2- Initial research
When being introduced to FMP I wasn't sure what I want to create for my FMP but the mind map above helped me understand that I enjoyed creating a magazine. I enjoyed deigning a front cover and a double page spread before. So I thought that because I like designing different things. So think on what I could design I asked my tutor on what I could design. My tutor said that I could do movie posters but different posters but posters that attract the audience through the posters. So I thought that I could design a range of posters that have a different range of genres. So I will research the different marketing campaigns that have posters for different genres and the different types of movie posters.

I started to do task 2 and discussed what I wanted to create and why. I spoke to Sarah we discusses abiut what type of magazine I will be creating but I wasnt sure. I figured that I still was unsure what wanted to do.
Dead pool
In Deadpool, they created their marketing campaign with the same genre but created posters that attract the audience, for example, they created a romantic poster because they advertise the film around Valentine's day. They also created a breast cancer poster to represent social awareness.
This photo is to attract the audience that likes the genre romance . The colours they use is light but bright. They used a simple font because the target audience would prefer a simple font for this type of poster so that they can read it. They include the main characters name at the top of the poster. They have a tagline that is under the title they did this because they know once we read the title we will read what is after it. They have logos for different companies this is so they know where the film will be and who helped produced the film. There is more text than image this is to inform the audience about the film.
This poster reflects the genre action because the background shows the buildings being destroyed. Also the character in the dead pool costume looking back and basically telling the audience to keep a secret. The text fills the bottom of the page but it not to big that it over takes the page this so that we can see the image. The red reflects the action because the red stands out in the poster. They only put the name of the film to make the audience wonder why they haven't told them when the film would be released. There is more image than text because the image has taken most of the space and the audince might not want a lot of text on the poster
Toy story 4
I go onto toy story 4 because they collaborated with different brands like McDonald's by putting toys in happy meals. Alaska Airlines has a toy story 4 themed airplane. Kelloggs released a movie-themed cereal. Almond breeze offered tickets to the film but with qualified products.
This poster represent the genre adventure. The position they are in shows that they are ready to go on an adventure. The colours that is on the Ferris wheel is bright. The colours that is around the characters are dark but it is light because of the Ferris wheel lights. The background image is A shop with a Ferris wheel out side this is to suggest that the characters is on going on an adventure. The included the release date of the film, the title of the film and the name of companies this is to inform the audience . The title is placed at the top of the poster but the where the release date is at the bottom of the poster so that we can read the whole poster. I think that there are more images than text as the target audience likes more images than text.

Today I Spoke to Natalie about my idea and she suggested different things like advertising. So then she suggested marketing campaigns posters that have different genres that aim at different target audience. So I researched different movies that have posters for different genres I will finish this for homework ready for Monday
This picture represents the genre mystery because They haven't revealed what is going to happen and who else is involved with what is going to happen. The colours of the background starts dark and goes light to represent a sunset. The words are brightly coloured to stand out. They put wood so that we know that there is going to be an adventure. They have included the title of the film, the company and release date to inform the audience they are aligned to the middle of the poster but separated so that we have to look at the whole poster. I think that there is more image than text becuase the image fits the whole of the page
Truth or dare
So after looking at Toy story 4 I am going to look at horror.. they did something differnt. they created products such as hats, The game and more to promot the film to the target audinece.
This picture represents the genre mystery because there a character and a question mark with the character looking through it. They used colours that will stand out to the audience. The poster tells the audience the release date and the film title which is both placed at the bottom of the poster so that it captures the audience attention. There is more image than text as it will attract the audience to watch the film.
This picture represents the genre horror because the skull and the question mark tells the audience that it is a horror because of when people think of truth or dare they think of a game that they will enjoy but also stepping out of there comfort zone. The colours they choose represents horror because of the dark colours. They include the title at the bottom of the page. They put coming soo to make the audience wonder when the film will be released so that they can see the film in cinema. There is more text than image because they are informing the audience on the film.
Looking at these different posters made me understand that they create different posters from different genres to attract the audience towards the movie and the type of movie posters helped me learn what type of movie posters I want to create.
Different types of movie posters

Double /single sided posters- Movie studios produceses both single and double sided posters. Single sided posters are printed on the front side but with a white back. Double sided posters have similar artwork on the front and back. On the back the artwork is produced in a lighter shade than the front. Double sided posters is printed on a thicker paper than single sided posters.

Advance/Teaser- These types of posters are an early promotional movie poster. They normally contains a basic image or design. They are designed not to reveal too much information like the plot, the theme and the characters. They may include or not include a tagline. They are meant to raise awareness and create hype for the film. Some of the teaser posters are put out in the public long in advance of the film going into production or while the film is being made.

Main/ final- The main or final movie poster is the last poster produced for the film. This type of film posters contains more information than the teaser or advance movie poster. The include the names of the actors and actresses, the tagline of the movie, the production crew and the distributors. Sometimes there is more than one style of the main or final posters produced This depends on the budget.

Character-When a movie features an all-star cast the movie studio may decide to produce a set of character posters. These feature an individual character from the movie. They normally would show the name of the actor or the name of the character played. They may include a tagline that is associated with the character.

Anniversary - Movie studios and independent printers will release a poster for a particular film by distributing as an Anniversary Poster. These normally marks a milestone for a classic movie. These posters are normally printed in limited numbers. They are released for sale to the public.

Award- They contain whether the film has been nominated for a award and which award it is.

Today I wrote my questionnaire and started to plan for my focus group and my interview. I started to look at analysing movie posters. I went through my proposal with my tutor with more feedback so I improved my proposal.
The genre of this movie horror. The genre of the movie poster is mystery. The image of the character holding the mask in the characters makes the audience wonder why the mask in the characters hand is a copy of the characters face. They decided to use dark colours for the movie posters represent the genre mystery. The lighting they have used for the movie posters suggests that something bad is going to happen. By knowing that something bad is the character and the mask that she is holding. They have the included the title of the films and the directors name to inform the audience about the film. The title is placed at the bottom where as the the directors name is placed at the top this is to separate them infomation
The image of the poster is that there are two heads that are coming out both sides of the knife. The knife suggests that there is going to be a murder. The colour of the poster is red and white this could suggest to the audience that something dangerous is going to happen. The poster is lighter than the other one because this one represent danger more than it does horror. This includes the title of the film, directors name and the release date of the film on the poster so that the audience knows about the film. They have the information separated on the poster.
The genre of this movie mystery. The image is of the characters face that is placed above an abandoned island this suggests to the target audience that a mystery is going to happen on the island that looks abandoned and isolated. They decided to use dark colours for the movie posters represent the genre mystery. The colour of the movie title is in red to make it seem more like a horror than a film. The lighting for the film poster is that it is lighter between the characters head and around the island . It is darker around the characters head as well. This suggests that there is a mystery and something is going to happen. They include the main actors name, the title of the film, tagline and the release date so that the audience knows about the film and makes them want to watch the film.
The image is of the characters face. The character is holding a match that lights up part of the characters face. The characters face expression makes the audience think that he is mad. The colours they use is dark to suggest that it is a mystery film. The information that is included on the poster is the title of the film, release date and the main actors name to tell the audience about the film which is separated so that we have to look at the whole poster.
The genre of this movie poster is mystery. The image of the poster is that there is a doll in the front but then in the background there are different character. The colour of the background is red to tell the audience that their is danger. The doll has a red glow around it as an effect. The poster has the release date and the name of the film at the bottom of the poster whereas the tagline is at the top of the poster. This is so that we look at the whole poster and not just focus on one thing.
The image is of a doll sitting down in a bookcase with things surrounding the doll. The background colours they use is dark colours. They did this to suggest that a mystery is going to happen. The information that they include on the poster is the title and it saying coming soon. They said "coming soon" to make the audience wonder what day it will come out. They placed the information together at the bottom of the page. So that we know that this film will be released soon
All these posters have in common is that they all have red in them so this suggest that there is danger.
From analysing theses posters I have learnt that most posters have red in them to make a statement. What I will research next is the genre codes and conventions

At the top of the poster they uses the quote "possess them all" from the film as a tagline . The back ground is of other characters that are in the film. The poster has the main character which is the doll they placed in the centre. The film title is Annabelle. The title has cracks. This effect tells the audience that it is a horror. The release date is at the bottom of the page. The colour of the poster is red this could represent blood or danger. This Poster doesn't have billing block at the bottom of it. It has images of the featured actors in the background image. It doesn't have the directors name. It has the logo of Imax at the bottom of the poster. This poster doesn't have the BBFC rating certificate. The lighting for the poster is coming from the glow around the doll.
The poster uses tagline "someone is missing" to suggest something happened to someone in the film. The poster has the main characters face as part of the image. The other part of the image is of an island that looks abandoned with the ocean waves around it. The poster includes the film title "shutter island". The title is in red that looks like a sign. The film has the release date on the poster. The colour of the poster goes from grey to black. The poster has billing block at the bottom of the poster. I don't know what the billing block says. It could say the featured actors and directors name. The posters have different logos on it. It doesn't have the BBFC rating certificate. The match that the character is holding is lighting the characters face. The glow around the island is lighting the island.
The poster uses tagline "you are the experiment" to suggest they are doing an experiment. The poster has the main characters face as the image. The poster includes the film title "the box". The title is in white but one word is bold and the other word is not. The film has the release date on the poster. The colour of the poster is grey but with a red stripe in the middle. The poster has billing block at the bottom of the poster. I don't know what the billing block says. It could say the featured actors and directors name. It does include the actors name at the top of the poster.The posters have different logos on it. It doesn't have the BBFC rating certificate. The lighting is soft so it makes the poster look darker.
I have learnt the different conventions about film posters and the genre mystery. What I will do next is conduct an interview over email.

Today I worked on my interview questions . I researched the genre conventions for film posters and the genre mystery. With the conventions that n researched I analysed mystery movie posters.
For this interview I asked my friend who is a media student who goes Luton sixth form. I asked the questions above. My friend responded to the questions by email. My friend said to represent the genre mystery by using dark colours and props for the posters. I asked what information can I provide on the poster the answer that my friend responded with was that I could include the films title, directors name, release date, actors name and a tagline. My friend said that she expects to see t information and the characters from the film on the poster. I asked my friend what they previously created was film posters. My friend said that for the film posters that was created was that my friend was created a short story and named it shady. I asked my friend what tips my friend had for me and the response was to use as many new techniques as possible and to use them in the correct way. I asked my friend where should I place the characters on the poster and my friend responded with that it depends on how I m going to layout the poster. With all the information I will use it t../o make my posters better.
Photography techniques
Lighting
Creating the perfect lighting you need to move around, using different angles and taking as many shots helps to see where the best lighting is. The light can help highlight the details in the photos.
Positions:

Front lighting is when you placed in front of the object or the person. The shadow of the object or the person.

Side lighting is when you place an object or a person and you place the light at the side This creates shadow and depth to the image.

Back lighting is when you place the light behind the object or the person. Shadows of the image or the person falls in front.
Hard lighting:

If not used correctly it will create a shadows under the eyes.

Colour temperature
A cameras white balance that can adjust the images. Adjusting the white balance on the Kelvin scale. The kelvin scale allows the photographers to have control over the white balance. When the white balance is accurate it means that any thing white in real life is white in the image. You can use the Kelvin scale to add different colours to the image. Other than using white balance photographers may do something different their light sources.
In this video they give us 5 different techniques that would help me take my photos.

Rule of three
This techniques is a grid of three rows horizontal and vertical. The grid will have nine boxes where there are four lines that meet. These four lines have points that is called point of interest these help you with placement for the image. This is because we mainly look straight at one of the points. It can be used for both photography and artwork.
Depth of field
Is the sharpness in the photo that appears in focus. In each image different things will be in focus whether it is in front of behind subject. It would be different in every image. The distance between the object or the person and the camera. The closer the object or the person the shallower the depth of field. This allows your subject or person to stand out from the surroundings.
Leading lines
It help bring your eyes in from the edge. They enter from the corner of the image. It creates a balance in the image an makes you look at the placement of the subject or the person. They don't have to be straight. They have to fit in with the images. The most common leading lines are roads, fences, rivers and more You can make them your main subject. The lines provide a structure to the photos.
Long exposure.
They use shutter speed that is longer than 30 seconds to create photos to creates a blur from the movements. Most of long exposures images are either landscape or architecture. Different images need a different amount of time to capture the movements of what they are capturing. You can take images of clouds or waves as they will create a blur.
Ariel photography
They are taken by an aircraft or a drone. This photography is mainly used in real estate.It allows them to see the buildings or events from a birds eye view. These images capture the atmosphere. If something goes wrong it means that the image wont turn out right.

Today I made changes to my focus group. I made sure that everyone that took part was able to still able to.
In my focus group I asked what they liked and disliked about my synopsis. They said that they really enjoyed it but they said that could improve my synopsis by shorten it. I also asked what can I change in it they said that I couldn't change anything so then I asked what can I cut out of my synopsis. They said that I can because all the information is important. I also asked how should I have the characters dress in the posters.
Synopsis
A group of 4 friends who don't know what to do so they decided to go to the park. While at the park they were just chilling and having some fun with each other. While at the park they get approached by a stranger who is dressed in all black with his hood up; they can't see the strangers face. They get handed a letter then the stranger walks away. They are wondering what the letter is about so they decided to open it. They read the letter and found out they got a meeting with a shady business person. The group of friends wonder why the shady business person wants to see them. As they were leaving the park to go to the car one of the friends started to panic this caused the other friends to start to panic from all the questions they were asking random questions but one of the friends said that they should go to the meeting and see what the business person wants and what’s in it for them. It is now the day of the meeting with the business person. As they arrive at the destination they see a massive building. They stepped out of the car but got told to go to the rear of the building. They reach the rear of the building as they are walking they see a chair with a mysterious woman facing away from them holding something. As the group of friends walk towards the seating area she turns around. The group of friends got told the deal is that the women saw their creative ideas on Instagram and wanted the group of friends to work for the company but they got told on one condition they have to get rid of their enemy company. So, the group of friends were wondering how they were going to do this mission. They asked the women about if they didn't complete the mission and what would happen. The women said that they will lose someone they care for. They stayed up all night to plan what they were going to do.

Today I looked at the different phototshop techniques and anylysed my focus group
Photoshop techniques
I have learnt how to make a dark faded dramatic colour to the images. To do this you just need a normal image and then you need to crop it and then extend the sides of the image. So that there is some of the white background around the image. Then you need to select the effect black and white. Then you need to go to effects and choose curves and adjust it. Then you need to choose the brush then change the colour.
In this techniques I have learnt how to retouch an image. You need to open the image that you are going to edit.. Then choose the spot healing tool and get rid of any spots on the image. After you do that choose layer 1 and press control J together. Go to filter and then noise and choose reduce noise and then adjust to how you need it to be. After you have reduced noise, go to filter then blur and choose surface blur and then adjust. Choose the first layer and press ALT. Then choose the brush tool then pressed ALT, CTRL, SHIFT and E together on layer 2.Then go to filter and then other and choose high pass. Then where it says normal and change it to linear light. Watching this video helped me to learn ow to put effects on my texts. You need to have a black background with white text. After you have done that you need to click on the text layer and choose rasterize type. Then press control and then choose the gradient tool and choose the colours you need for the text. After you have done that you need to press CONTROL and D together. Duplicate the text layer and then create a new layer.With that new layer choose render then clouds and then change normal to colour dodge. Choose the duplicated text layer and go to filter and then blur and select gaussian blur and then adjust it.Select layer 1 and then choose a foreground colour. Choose the paint brush tool and choose the brush that you need and adjust it.
In this video have learnt how to sharpen images.
Click on the image layer and the then press CONTROL and J together
Go to filter and choose other and select high pass and adjust it to how it needs to be.
Change normal to hard light and then change the opacity.
Press CONTROL, SHIFT, ALT and E together to duplicate the layer.
Go to filter and then choose sharpen and select smart sharpen and adjust it.
Select the layer 1 and 2 and then press CONTROL and G together.
Questionnaire
For my first question I asked what is there age. From the graph I see that more people between the ages 13-15 answered the questionnaire. The ages between the ages16-19 is the second most age group to answer my age group. Where as 20+ also answered my questionnaire
I have learnt different photoshop techniques. Next I will analyse my questionnaire.
In this question I realised that more females answered my questionnaire than male. This helps my idea because I want to create something that appeals to both genders.
This question I asked what they know about the genre mystery because I wanted to know more about the genre. I have learnt about the genre mystery. They mostly responded suspense, dark lighting and more.
I asked what colours should use for r the background they mostly responded dark and light colours. This will help me know what colours I should use for the background colour.
I also asked what colour I should use for my text they mostly replied dark and light colours for the text but as dark was the highest response for both the colour of the background.
This question I asked about what font I should use for my posters is that they mainly said text 1 this will help me know what font I should use.
I asked how I should position the characters on the poster. They mostly replied at the bottom of the page.
This question helped me realised what information I should include on my posters so that my posters can look professional.
With this question I asked what is there favourite film posters and why not everyone answered this question but they had some good films and why.
I have learnt that my secondary target audience answered my questionnaire more than my primary target audience. This will help me improve my idea.
